Hood Vent Spacers

INSTRUCTIONS:

I took the plate off and just slipped on 3 faucet washers that I had. Faucet washers are flat on one side and are conical on the other. They are perfect for the application. They are black neoprene, not that you can see them. I just used 1/4" thick ones. Other than removing the weather stripping and then the glue (which was a pain), it was a simple install. That took 10 times longer than doing the other stuff. I first peeled off the weather stripping. Sprayed the gum down with WD-40 to get the rest of the weather strip off. The glue was still there and it bothered me so I had to use Goof Off to remove that. Not sure that was necessary though. If this mod
costs $0.50 it would be a lot. Home Depot will have the washers in the plumbing section. It does look like there will be a fair amount of air allowed to escape. Not nearly as much as removing the plates. But, the way it's been raining I feel better with them there. They really don't look any different as far as I can tell from the outside. It should still prevent water from coming in nicely. Maybe a slight amount more but nothing significant.

Thanks to NickCat from the i-Club for the idea of this mod.
