INFORMATION:
I put my RS shifter in a friends 97 Impreza L today. I was told that the RS shifter was shorter, but I was surprised to see how much shorter it was. About an inch from the top. Also, the bottom stuck out further on the RS's, changing the fulcrum point making for shorter shifts. I highly recommend getting a Kartboy short shifter (and bushings) but if you can get an RS shifter for your L it's a step in the right direction I think.
